States Instructed To Conduct Defence Mock Drill On May 7

New Delhi: The possibility of war between India and Pakistan has increased in connection with the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Both countries have been practicing their military equipments and are showing off their strength.

The Central Government has now instructed all states to conduct mock drills across the country on May 7. The Union Home Ministry has today issued an order to conduct mock drills across the country on May 7 regarding the protection of citizens. All states have been instructed to ensure that air raid siren systems are in place. In this context, a mock drill of wartime defense operations will be held in all states on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed states to conduct comprehensive civil defence mock exercises on Wednesday, May 7, to test preparedness in the event of a hostile attack and increase public awareness, government sources said. These exercises focus on several critical preparedness measures, including the operation of air raid warning sirens and training of civilians, including students, in essential civil defense techniques. The goal is to equip them with how to protect themselves in emergency situations such as airstrikes or other adverse events.

The Home Ministry stressed the importance of coordinated participation from local authorities, educational institutions and civil defence personnel to make the nationwide exercise effective. The timing of this order by the central government is very crucial. The last time a similar defence exercise was held was in 1971, the year when war broke out between India and Pakistan.
