Foreign Minister Jaishankar Rejects US Mediation Claim In Ceasefire

New Delhi: The recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan is the result of a bilateral agreement, meaning that the two countries reached this decision through direct talks. Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has made it clear that there is no international intervention in this, especially not the role of the United States.

India has always been concerned about Pakistan's use of terrorism as its policy. Jaishankar said that India reserves the right to give a befitting reply to such threats.

On April 22, 26 people were killed in a horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In response, India launched a military operation, "Operation Sindoor". This targeted 9 terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). In this operation, more than 100 terrorists from several terrorist organizations including Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen were killed.

Jaishankar said that the military operation "Operation Sindoor" has a specific objective. The External Affairs Minister opined that the operation will send a clear message that if incidents like those that took place on April 22 in Pahalgam are repeated, there will be a befitting response.

"If terrorists are in Pakistan, we will go there and finish them. This is the new policy of New India against terrorism. For now, Operation Sindoor has been temporarily suspended, but the operation has not been permanently halted. India reserves the right to resume operations if necessary or if Pakistan again provokes India." Jaishankar has warned.

"On May 10, the Pakistani military was the first to propose a ceasefire through the hotline. They were the first to say they were ready to stop the firing. India responded positively to that," Jaishankar explained. Many countries, including the US, expressed concern and called on both sides. However, he clarified that the ceasefire talks were only between India and Pakistan.

US President Donald Trump claimed to have brokered the ceasefire himself, and described the conflict between India and Pakistan as having been going on for thousands of years. However, Jaishankar dismissed Trump's statement. "This is a matter between India and Pakistan. We want to resolve it bilaterally," the Foreign Minister reiterated India's position.

Jaishankar's statements clearly reflect India's foreign policy. Jaishankar's statement conveys a clear message that India attaches great importance to its security and does not tolerate terrorism.

The world is convinced that India is ready to take all measures to protect its interests. The relationship between India and Pakistan is complex, and peace can be established through dialogue and mutual understanding. If Pakistan stops supporting terrorism, both countries can have a better future.
