Russia Issues Stern Warning Against US Military Involvement In Middle East

Moscow: Strongly opposing a potential U.S. military intervention in the Israel-Iran war, Russia has issued a stern warning, stating that "American military involvement in the Middle East conflict will further escalate the situation."

“In this scenario, we wish to issue a specific warning to Washington against military intervention. It is an extremely dangerous move with truly unpredictable negative consequences,” said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova to reporters.

Within 24 hours of U.S. President Donald Trump hinting at the possibility of joining Israel in an attack against Iran, Russia released a statement opposing any potential American military involvement.

Expressing concern that such a U.S. decision would intensify the conflict in the Middle East, Russia made it clear that it strongly opposes the move.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov also warned the U.S. against providing direct military support to Israel. “We caution Washington against such hypothetical, imaginary options. Such a step would fundamentally destabilize the entire situation,” Ryabkov stated with dissatisfaction.

Calling for an end to the conflict between Israel and Iran, Russia acknowledged the concerns of Middle Eastern nations. Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin personally called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, appealing for the violence to stop.

Meanwhile, responding to the possibility of Russian mediation to implement a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump hinted that “Russia may proceed independently with its own mediation efforts.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin also had a phone call with UAE leader Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, stressing the need to stop the war quickly and intensify diplomatic efforts in the interest of resolving issues related to Iran’s nuclear program. This has opened the door for potential Russian mediation.

At the same time, officials from Russia’s Nuclear Energy Corporation warned that an Israeli attack on Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant could result in a “Chernobyl-style disaster.” Overall, Russia's questioning of the U.S. mediation process in curbing the ongoing Middle East conflict has attracted global attention.
