It is well known that a war situation has recently emerged between India and Pakistan. The world also saw how India was made to look after a troubled Pakistan. But just when it seemed that war was about to break out, US President Donald Trump intervened. It was said globally that the war was stopped because of Trump. Now Trump has reiterated the same words again. He has once again patted himself on the back saying that he was the one who stopped the India-Pakistan war.
"I stopped the war between Pakistan and India. I love Pakistan," Trump told reporters at the White House. "Modi is a wonderful person, I spoke to him last night," Trump said. Donald Trump has once again claimed credit for stopping the war between India and Pakistan.
But Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that India has never accepted any third-party mediation in this matter. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had made it clear to President Trump that India has never agreed to mediate in matters related to Pakistan and will never agree to do so. He reiterated that New Delhi has never agreed to such interventions.
Referring to plans for a trade deal with India, Trump said, "We are going to make a trade deal with Modi of India. But I stopped the war between Pakistan and India." Trump praised both Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir.
This Munir was very influential in stopping the war from Pakistan's side. Modi also said it from the other side. The two were going to war, both nuclear powers. "I stopped a war between two major nuclear powers. But I don't think any story has been written about it," he said.
Trump made this statement just hours after his telephone conversation with Modi. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi clarified that the decision to stop the recent military operation between India and Pakistan was taken directly by both armies. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, quoting Modi, said that India has never accepted mediation, does not accept it and never will. There was no discussion of a US-India trade deal or any intervention by Washington in the event of a war situation. It never happened at any time, Misri said.
