Following U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement that Iran and Israel have agreed to a complete ceasefire within the next 12 hours, Iran has strongly refused the claim. Iran has stated that no ceasefire agreement has been reached.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi shared this clarification. Posting on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he said,
"Let it be clear—Iran did not start this war; Israel did. So far, there has been no agreement for a ceasefire or halting military operations. If Israel stops its illegal aggression, we have no intention of continuing the war. A final decision on suspending our military operations will be taken later," Araghchi posted on X.
Iran has thus officially denied any ceasefire deal with Israel. The Iranian Foreign Minister further stated that if Israel halts its airstrikes by 4 AM Tehran time, Iran will also stop its attacks.
As Iran has repeatedly made clear: Israel launched war on Iran, not the other way around.

Ceasefire Talks Not Yet Finalized
Just hours after Iran launched airstrikes on U.S. military bases in Qatar and Iraq, the United States announced a ceasefire agreement.
While Israel has agreed to a ceasefire, the U.S. sought assistance from Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to persuade Iran to accept the deal.
However, Israeli attacks in Tehran are reportedly continuing. The situation between Iran and Israel remains tense. No official or confirmed ceasefire agreement has been reached, and discussions are still ongoing. International efforts are underway to de-escalate the conflict.
What Did President Trump Say?
In a post made early Tuesday morning on his social media platform, Trump said: "Israel and Iran have agreed to a complete and total ceasefire. Congratulations to everyone! (Roughly 6 hours from now, once both sides complete their ongoing final operations.) At that point, the war will be considered officially over. Iran will begin its ceasefire at the 12th hour, and Israel will begin its ceasefire at the 24th hour, officially ending this 12-day war. This could have been a war lasting years, potentially destroying the entire Middle East—but it didn’t, and it never will!"
"Both Iran and Israel Came to Me for Peace," Says Trump.
Trump also stated that both Iran and Israel approached him seeking peace. He wrote on Truth Social:
"Israel and Iran came to me at the same time, asking for ‘Peace!’ I felt this was the right time. The world and the Middle East are the real winners! Both nations will now experience love, peace, and prosperity. If they stray from the path of truth, they will lose much. The future of Iran and Israel is bright. God bless you all!"
