Sources have revealed that the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was used in India's Operation Sindoor in retaliation for the terror attack carried out by terrorists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Our Indian Air Force had targeted Pakistani air bases at Rafiqui (Shorkot, Jhang), Murid (Chakwal), Noor Khan (Chaklala, Rawalpindi), Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur and Chunian (Kasur).

In this attack, the air bases in Skardu, Bholari, Jacobabad and Sargodha were completely destroyed. Now, it is reported that various countries are lining up to buy this BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. So, let's find out which countries are queuing up to buy this deadly missile from India.

What is the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile?

The BrahMos missile is a supersonic cruise missile developed through a joint venture and cooperation between India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Russia's NPO Mashinostroyeniya. The name 'BrahMos' is a composite of the Brahmaputra River in India and the Moskva River in Russia, signifying this partnership and the close friendship between the two countries. The Philippines, which signed a Rs 32,000 crore BrahMos missile deal for three coastal defence batteries in January 2022, is currently the only ally with a confirmed contract for BrahMos. The first battery under this contract was delivered to the Philippines in April 2024. Sources familiar with the matter reported that the second battery delivery is likely to take place this year.  Apart from this, it is also said that more than a dozen countries have shown interest in purchasing the BrahMos missile.

Air-launched versions have the enormous potential to reach a range of 450-500 km.

It is reported to be easily launched from land-based Transporter Erector Launchers (TELs), ships (both vertical and inclined launchers), submarines (submersibles) and fighter aircraft (fighter jets such as the Su-30MKI).
